Small Zebra is freezing and decided to stay in the car

Welcome to eAnts

Sometimes your day job -no matter how much you love it- needs to be balanced. Remove the tension. Compensate the charges. Neutralize pH value. Harmonize Yin and Yang. Photography is a great way of doing so, it is a demanding, but highly creative hobby. For me, it started with an Olympus XA2, my first SLR was a Nikon D90X with several lenses, my always on was a Nikon AF 50mm f/1.4D. I used it for quite a long time, until Nikon started to go digital and I invested into a D100, then a D200. But I really missed my 50mm, with the introduction of the crop factor the pictures felt wrong to me. I waited until the first full format arrived and was one of the first owners of the D800. Even after I invested into the big three (14-24, 24-70, 70-200), I checked the focal length of the pictures I created and found that +/- a few millimeters, I was still just doing 50mm. Today, my camera is usually equipped with the Sigma 50mm F1,4 DG HSM A, a beautiful and powerful lens. Although I now own more than one body and quite a number of lenses.

After some rather intense period of my life with way too much work, I decided to put some more effort into this hobby. The Nikon newsletter had an offer I did not resist and I traveled with a group and a very good instructor to Norway to do northern light photography. Not only that this was a fantastic week which got me totally hooked, but I met some girl as well. Pretty soon after this week, the status changed from „some“ to „my“ and I now travel with a small family of 4, as we soon added two zebras into the mix. Zebras? Well…

My pickup line was a description of my travel plans and I plainly asked her if she wanted to join me for some adventure. First on the list was Iceland, so we started planning. And found that the highlands required either a very expensive rental, or a massively different approach in how to get there. We decided to buy a pickup truck, for all the necessary equipment and it’s offroad capabilities. Looking at a picture of the car while enjoying a pretty good bottle of red wine, a little more crazyness took over and we ended up with several weeks of Illustrator work and finally the zebra. The second one joined in just for the party.

After some trips and many stories told I decided to revive my domain and start a blog. eAnts was reborn.
